I am self-taught and explore each time I paint. I approach a blank canvas as if I were traveling: What is here? What will I find? I love the search and discovery of the lyrical soul in a painting as it develops. I get lost in the motion of colors as they splash on a white space. For many years I wrote poetry and listened for the rhythm of words and lines. Now I paint and look for the rhythm of lines and colors. My paintings start in reality but finish in the imagination. This is the joy of painting for me: colors, lines and shapes arising from the blankness of a canvas, transporting me, as music for my eyes.
